Delete your Dropout account
Two ways to do it. Both are free, neither needs a reason, and below is an honest list of what actually happens to your data.
In the app (instant)
Profile → Settings → Delete account. It works immediately — no support ticket, no waiting period, no “we’ll keep it around in case you change your mind.” You confirm once, the account is deleted on the spot, and you are signed out everywhere. There is no undo.
No access to the app?
Email support@dropoutsocial.com with the subject “Delete my account”, sent from the email address you signed up with — that’s the only way we can tell the request is really yours. We process these within 30 days, usually much faster.
What deletion does
Removed immediately
- Your login stops working: the password is invalidated and every session on every device is signed out. Nobody can sign in to the account again — including you.
- Your email address and username are detached from the account and replaced with a meaningless placeholder.
- Your profile is wiped: display name, bio, avatar, major, graduation year, MBTI, gender, and age are all cleared.
Content and activity
Your authored post, comment, poll and message text is erased. Empty structural records can remain to preserve other people's replies. Account-linked course reviews are deleted, votes and related counters are adjusted, and sessions, notification tokens, saved activity, blocks and personal review hides are removed. Content belonging to other people remains theirs.
What we keep
We would rather list this plainly than bury it:
- A minimal audit record that deletion occurred, without your original email address or username. Personal payloads in account-related moderation records are scrubbed as part of deletion.
- Safety and moderation records about the account or its content (reports, enforcement actions), retained where required.
- The anonymized account record itself — a tombstone with no personal details in it — so the rest of the database stays consistent.
Emails outside the app
If you joined the school waitlist on our website, left an email with a Suggestion Wall post, or emailed us about your verification status, those can be removed on request too — same address, support@dropoutsocial.com, just ask.
