Zero Tolerance for Objectionable Content and Abusive Users

Dropout has zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. Content that is harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or that targets, demeans, or endangers other people is prohibited and has no place on Dropout. We review reported or detected content and remove violations. Enforcement can include warnings, suspension or a permanent ban. We prioritize urgent safety concerns and aim to review reports within 24 hours.

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Dropout (the "Service"), operated by Sori Labs LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). These Terms incorporate by reference our Privacy Policy and our Safety & Community Guidelines, which are part of your agreement with us. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Dropout is a campus-based social platform that lets people share content under a pseudonym and engage with their campus community. Email verification confirms control of an address. During beta, we also accept addresses outside supported university domains, so verification is not universal proof of university affiliation. The Service is offered only in the United States.

3. Eligibility

To use Dropout, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old;
  • Have a valid email address accepted by the signup flow and verify control of that address;
  • Not have been previously banned from the Service; and
  • Agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Community Guidelines.

4. Your Account

  • You must provide and verify a valid email address. It is used for account access, recovery, campus placement and service communications, and is not shown to other users.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity under it.
  • You may not share your account, or create or use an account for someone else.
  • Notify us immediately at support@dropoutsocial.com of any unauthorized access.

5. Anonymous, but Accountable

Dropout lets you post under a pseudonym. Information you include in public profile fields or content may identify you. Anonymity is not a license to break these Terms: the rules apply the same whether or not your name is attached, and we retain internal records necessary to operate the Service, prevent abuse, and comply with the law (see the Privacy Policy).

6. Your Content

Ownership. You retain ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your content solely to operate, improve, and promote the Service. This license ends when you or we remove the content from the Service, except that residual copies may persist in backups for a limited period and we may retain content as required for legal or safety purposes.

Responsibility. You are solely responsible for what you post. You agree not to post content that violates our Safety & Community Guidelines, which prohibit (among other things): harassment and bullying; hate speech; threats or violence; doxxing, including indirect identification (initials, "rhymes-with," or uniquely identifying descriptions); sexual content, and any sexualization of minors; illegal activity; content that encourages self-harm; spam and manipulation; impersonation; and harmful misinformation.

Removal. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. We remove content that violates these Terms or the Guidelines, with or without notice: depending on the feature, automated screening can reject or hold a submission for review. Reports enter a moderation queue; some content is automatically hidden after multiple distinct reports. Enforcement depends on severity and history and can include warnings, suspension or a permanent ban.

7. Moderation and Enforcement

We enforce a zero-tolerance policy toward objectionable content and abusive users. We use keyword filtering, automated content screening with explicit permission, community reports and human review. Screening failures reject submissions with a retryable error. Some content types automatically hide after multiple distinct reports; other reports enter the relevant review queue directly. We keep moderation records to support review and enforcement, subject to the deletion practices in our Privacy Policy. We aim to review reports within 24 hours and prioritize urgent safety concerns. Content found to violate our Guidelines is removed, and accounts may be warned, suspended or permanently banned. We do not guarantee that all violating content will be caught or removed immediately, and reporting is essential to how moderation works. Enforcement ranges from content removal to warnings, temporary suspension, and permanent bans.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to circumvent security measures or access controls;
  • Access the Service or its API by any means other than the official Dropout apps — including reverse engineering, building or using unauthorized clients, or accessing endpoints programmatically without our written permission;
  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access, collect data from, or interact with the Service without permission;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure;
  • Collect or de-anonymize information about other users;
  • Use the Service for any commercial purpose without authorization; or
  • Encourage or help anyone else do any of the above.

9. Intellectual Property

Dropout and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. Our name, logo, trademarks, and trade dress may not be used without our prior written permission.

10. Copyright / DMCA

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on Dropout infringes your copyright, send a notice to support@dropoutsocial.com with: (a) your signature (physical or electronic); (b) identification of the work; (c) identification of the allegedly infringing material and where it is; (d) your contact information; (e) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized; and (f) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and you are authorized to act. We remove infringing content and terminate repeat infringers.

11. Feedback

If you send us suggestions or feedback — including posts on the public Suggestion Wall on our website, which requires no account — you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, publicly display, and act on it without obligation to you. Suggestion Wall posts are reviewed by a human before they appear publicly, and we may decline or remove any post at any time; the content rules in our Safety & Community Guidelines apply on the wall the same as they do in the app.

12. Third-Party Links

The Service may link to third-party sites or services. We are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or conduct.

13. Apple App Store

The following applies when you download Dropout from the Apple App Store:

  • These Terms are between you and Sori Labs LLC only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
  • Your license to use the app is limited to use on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app, and no warranty obligation. Any claims that the app fails to conform to a warranty are our responsibility, not Apple's.
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing product-liability, third-party intellectual-property, or consumer-protection claims relating to the app.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
  • You represent that you are not located in a U.S.-embargoed country or on a U.S. government restricted-parties list.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that it is free of harmful components. Content is created by users and does not reflect our views; you access it at your own risk.

15. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM: your use of or inability to use the Service; any content on the Service; any conduct of another user; or unauthorized access to your account. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sori Labs LLC and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.

17. Termination

By you. You may delete your account at any time in the app at Profile → Settings → Delete Account.

By us. We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms. For severe violations, termination may be immediate and without notice. We are not obligated to provide refunds.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 6, 9, 14–16, and 18–20) survive.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

19. Dispute Resolution; Arbitration; Class Waiver

Most concerns can be resolved by emailing support@dropoutsocial.com first. Any dispute not resolved informally will be settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. You and we waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action.

30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing support@dropoutsocial.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, stating your username and that you opt out of arbitration. Opting out does not affect the rest of these Terms.

20. General

  • Entire Agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Community Guidelines are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
  • Severability. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
  • No Waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Changes. We may modify these Terms; we will notify you of material changes in the app or by other reasonable means, and your continued use after they take effect is acceptance.
